Seriously, in the last 5 years where has memory gone? The mainstream memory is barely faster, and even the old stuff is still around and costs basically more now than it did then.

The whole industry has got to be ripe with price fixing. Legitimately, at a minimum the old stuff should be cheap by now.

Yeah, what you say it's completely true, and something negative for us.

But, it also depends which memory do you want to buy. If you buy Value Ram memory you won't have to pay an excessive price for it, but as everything in this life, if you want good components, you will have to pay for it ;) Or am i wrong?

Well, the memory prices took an unhealthily big dive a few years back, which kinda makes it look worse than it is.
Back then pretty much no one made any money on memory.

Nothing really unusual - normal market economics. 3 years ago people were happy with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM. Now, the demand has skyrocketed to 2 to 4 GB per system. I love half baked conspiracy theories alleging agreements between fierce competitors. vying for market share and growth. :)

The technology sector has been dismal - in the tank - for the past 2 years. Now maybe it will pay off.
