Memory: When showing off isnt a factor

OCZ has an overwhelming number of 'models' for their memory. Gold, Titanium, Platinum, Value, Premier, etc..

I understand the differences behind each 'model'. I also know that all memory is not created equal (you can have a 'slow' 1GB modual and a 'fast' 1GB modual).

When it comes down to it though, and you are NOT trying to get those 3 extra points in 3dMark and you arent trying to show off your Benchmarks saying you can run at approx. 0.053% more efficiently then your friend, is there a DEVISTATING difference between, say..for example, OCZ's Gold Series Enhanced Latency Voltage eXtreme 400mhz (pc3200) 1GB dual channel kit with CL 2-2-2-8 and OCZ's Preimier Series 400mhz (pc3200) 1GB dual channel kit with CL 2.5-3-3-7?

I mean, cmon! What are your thoughts on this?

Are you hardcore and need the bleeding edge of speed or are you somone who notices the narrowing gab between price and performance where small performance jump=large price jump and you take the low road?
