I've been wondering this. What is the max voltage that most name brand memory modules can be subjected to without causing damage? I'm talking about the good stuff like crucial, corsair, ocz, etc. Does a heatspreader really make any difference? Would you run the risk of frying say corsair value select ram if you ran it at the same voltage that you would run an xms stick?

Depends on the RAM. Some manufactuers let you give up to 2.9 with out voiding the warrenty I have seen more than that. I try to run mine with 2.8. It seems pretty safe to me. I ran some PC2100 at that for years. I run my current stuff at 2.7 because my mobo sucks with teh voltages.
