hi,
well, i was trying to install new memory dimms, but something went wrong (i'm afraid one of the times i tried to push them in - i mean PUSH, it was really hard to get them in.. and yes, they were in the right position - i might have left the no-break on, and i'm afraid the slots, or somthing else, got ruined..) . all right, i know how stupid that was, but i was trying lots of times to put the memory in, and the 1st time i got them right, the *^&$%* no-break's power was on..........
now, the computer won't power on (no matter if i use other memories or use different slots...), it will just keep doing those long, repeated beeps (which my mother board manual says has to do with memory problems)
well, for know i can't test my dimms in any other computer because i dont have any other, so i would like to know:
- how can i find out if the slots are really ruined, or if it is something else?
- if i buy another motherboard, will i have to get thermal paste or anything else to re-install the cpu and its heatsink? or can i just take it off and reinstall it?
thank you very much
nathan
my mobo is an asus a7s333 which by the way already has 2 ruined pci slots
, my cpu is an amd xp 1800+, and the memory i tried to install are two 512MB kingston value pc400.
