Memory Upgrade?

I recently sold my Pentium D 930 / Asus P2LD5 Deluxe setup to upgrade to Core 2 Duo / Asus P5B-E. I have 2GB (2x1GB) of DDR2 PC-4200 Corsair ValueRAM that I was using in the old system and I'm debating whether to use it in the new one. I use the computer for pretty heavy multi-tasking and video editing/encoding. I don't do much gaming.

My question: would I see any material benefit to upgrading to faster RAM? I'm looking to keep costs down so I don't want to buy new RAM unless it's really worth it. I might look into overclocking in the future (to something like 3GHz) if that makes a difference.

Thanks

give your new conroe some justice and feed it with ddr2-800. cas5 ram are reasonably priced at the moment. cas 4 ram if you have spare cash.

heavy multitasking/video editing would definitely benefit from more ram....but i would suggest getting 2GB first and see where your usage is.

I totaly agree with PhoenixOrion.

Get 2Gb and see the usage. You can try with your old RAM and see if it suites you. If not you can later obtain DDR800.
If you plan to overclock get DDR800 immediately.
