I have a K8N Neo2 platinum (NForce 3 Ultra).

So long I have been running it with 512 MB 3-3-3 Transcend memory module of DDR400. This is a dual sided DIMM

I decided to upgrade and picked up another 512 MB 2.5-3-3 Transcend memory module of DDR400. This is a single sided DIMM.

The 2 modules work fine in Single channel showing 1GB of ram. However, when I put it to dual channel mode, system fails to post with the usual memory beeps.

So I upgraded the BIOS and now both memory modules work in dual channel but only 512 MB of RAM is seen in the BIOS and the OS.

Any suggestion what I could do?

Please help,

Thanks

Well my not so expert opinion, I think the memory sticks have to be identical for it to work. I think the fact that they are dual sided or single sided doesnt really matter as much as the latencies having to be exactly the same.

if you say one is 3 3 3 and the other is 2.5 3 3 I think that is your problem. You can probably just run the two of them together but nont in dual channel.

Try putting them in Non dual channel configuration.

1 GB works fine in single channel. I would like to get it to run at dual channel though. In dual channel only 512 MB of the 1 GB is being seen.

Like dantonic said, the memory needs to be identical which means both modules must be either single sided or double sided or the system will read them as single channel not dual channel. I think the reason the system is working with both module in dual channel and only 512MBs is the system is only taking half of each module. I am not too sure why that is...
