Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my memory from 512MB to 3GB. I have a SOYO SY-P4X400 DRAGON Lite MB. If I go with this: ValueRAM 1GB 400MHZ DDR PC3200 ( KVR400X64C3A/1G ) will I have any problems with voltage or compatibility issues? I'm new to this and want to make sure the modules will work before buying them. There are three slots on my board. I want to use all the with 1GB in each. I have a Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz chip if that matters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds good.

Can I use 2 1GB's and keep the 512MB I have? I thought it was bad to use different sized modules.

It should work in standard mode. It won't work in dual channel mode (if your board even supports it), but it wouldn't work that way with three sticks, either.

Consider it a science project. You already own the 512 MB stick. The worst that can happen is, it probably will work with the two 1 GB sticks, but not when you add the 512 MB stick, and you'll have a stick to sell to someone to help pay for your new RAM.

I don't know if it will help, but Frys.com has the RAM you want for $32.99 plus shipping, or if you have a Fry's Electronics B&M in your city, it's on special through Tuesday for $34.99, but you'll save the shipping charge. :)
