Memory upgrade for my M6805

Hey guys. I know I should post this in teh official thread but I wanted a reasonably quick response. I'm up for purchasing some memory for my m6805 so I can get it up to 1 gig. A couple of questions:
1) What's the cheapest 1gig PC2700 sodimm modules out there? I'm asking because If I can find a 1 gig module for only slightly more than 2 512modules then i'd rather get that to avoid the hassle of opening up this thing.
2) Is there a module, from anybody's experience that still allows you to keep the same great overclock of the processor (in my case A64 3000+ 1.8@2.0ghz)?

Any helpful responses are greatly appreciated.

I can tell you that the M68xx machines only have one memory slot that is easily accessible by the user. You should get a 1GB module and put it in that slot. You CAN add a second 1GB module in the other slot for a total of 2GB, but you have to completely disassemble the machine to get at the second slot and it takes around an hour to do it.

Oh and O/C except for video is rough as the PCI/AGP bus is not locked out. Any change you make to the system bus speed will throw off the timing on the PCI/AGP bus and cause your system to lock up. For video, download ATI Tool. It has a test mode to find the highest possible clock rate for your video. Then download and install the ATI drivers from www.omegacorner.com which includes Radlinker and reset your video clocks to slightly below the values found by ATI Tool. Further speed gains can be gotten by changing out the slow HD for a 7200RPM unit, but higher speeds mean more power draw and less battery life. I have an M6811 which I keep plugged in 90% of the time so the extra power drain doesn't matter to me.

thx for the input. I know about the second slot. That's why I was asking somebody to suggest a 1 gig dimm to avoid accessing the second one although i'm willing to do it. Also, I'm aware of the overclocking ability. My 1.8 overclocks to 2.0ghz with the hyundai dimms that emachines provides. I was just wondering whether any other sodimms would allow me this same overclock. I don't plan on upgrading the hd yet cause I was lucky enough to get a 5400rpm hd. I can wait.
