I got one of the $400 laptops from BB over X-mas. With the price of RAM dropping I was considering going from 1Gig to 2. I have the Compaq Presario C714NR but looking on the HP page I couldn't find exactly which type of memory it uses. Anyone else have one or know? Saw a good deal on Hot Deals:

If it is an intel core duo or core 2 duo (and some pentium Ms) it uses DDR2-667 SO-DIMMs.

I have no idea what AMD is using right now, but I suspect that it is the same.

Does it have easy to access memory for upgrades? Double check before you buy, it could already have 2x512 or possibly only one memory slot. Never can quite tell.

Even if it has two slots, it could be split like my computer - one easy access slot underneath and one under the keyboard. When I upgraded, I just bought a 2GB stick because I didn't want to go fiddling around and getting my keyboard off just to put some more RAM in.
