Memory upgrade for Compaq?

My brother has a Compaq 5834. It only has 64 mb ram. Will another brand of memory work or will I need to get just the Compaq memory?

Can go to a max of 256, so will probably get 128 mb. I checked on the Compaq site and they wanted $102.00 for 128 mb 100mhz dimm. 🙂

check the hot deals forum for some ram.... You should be able to get a stick of 256mb Sdram for around $30. It does not matter if the stick you buy is pc133 it will work with 100mhz fsb computers.

Just click on the crucial.com link above and go into their site. You enter the model number etc of your computer and they give up the correct ram.
