Memory Upgrade Dilema...!?!

Hey all. I've got an Asus A8N Sli-Deluxe, AMD64 Venice 3000+ and 2x512 PC3200 Elixir DDR SDRAM (cheap stuff)... i've heard that AMD sux with 4x sticks o ram??? this true??? if so should i be looking to get 2x1gb in the future (instead of 4x512)??? Oh, also if i went for 1gb on its own (as an intermediate stage) would that be worse than the 2x512???

I have 2x512 MB RAM and don't see the problem. However, if I do get 2x1 GB instead, it's going to be next year because I want to see timings on 2x1GB RAM go down as well as prices for those with lower timings.
