Memory type, and processor

My cousin has finally decided to make his own pc, he is using a Barton 2600+, should he use pc2700, or 3200?

k, thanks, yea he says he wont be OC'ing seeing as how this is his first time making a system, thank you for the help.

bah, just get the 3200. there will come a point when he will be kicking himself for not getting it.

yeah i say go with the pc3200
higher trade in value at a later time if anything
i would also get a 2500+ or 2800+ instead of the 2600+ because they use the 200mhz fsb instead of the 333mhz fsb

Soulkeeper, you need to study up on AMD, if you are going to be giving advice to people about AMD!:D Every Barton ever made has a 166/333DDR fsb, except for the XP3200. The only AMD's that had a 100/200DDR fsb are the first Athlons, and the last generation of Durons.:D Even the new Durons have 133/266DDR fsb, man.

wrong. there is a version of the athlon 3000 with the 400 FSB ;)

i agree
you can oc the 2500+ to a 200mhz fsb with some good pc3200+
that is prob your best bet

if you wanna spend more get a 3200+ if you wanna spend less get a 1700+ (cheap way out)
nothing wrong with the other speeds tho
