Memory trouble on Asus CUV4X-D

I just installed my brand new Asus CUV4X-D and powered it on. All I got was an endless cycle of long beeps which apparently means there is no RAM installed or detected. I thought it was funny because there sat a 512mb stick of SDRAM. Maybe that RAM isnt compatible with VIA chipset (which it is, had it in a VP-6) so I tried some Mosel Vitaloc. Still endless beaps. I tried 6 different sticks (that all work in my other computers) of RAM in all sorts of combinations in all the DIMM slots, still no luck.

What am I doing wrong? I have 5 other comps running right now all home built so i know how to install stuff.

Is the motherboard defective? What else can I do to see if mobo is indeed defective?
