How important is it to set memory timings manually as opposed to auto (in the bios)? will it have a big impact on games? I have 2 GB of Muskin ddr 800 ram, the timings are 5 5 5 5 12, at 1.8v,

You won't see a difference between different timings in general operation & gaming except benchmarking. However, I always set it up to specs.

Timings are almost irrelevant. You can google a few benchmarks, but I swear I just saw one earlier today that showed maybe a 2-5% difference for gaming.

I have no idea what you mean. I would rather not get into a debate. If you don't o/c, don't worry about the details.

AMD processors have zero problems with 2 sticks of RAM, it's when they are using more than 2 sticks you see a performance decrease.
