Memory Timings With Dell Dimension 4550

I recently purchased a Dell Dimension 4550 with a 2.4GHz P4 and minimal generic RAM, I replaced the RAM with a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS which is rated at 2-2-2-5, but is currently running at 2-3-3-7. Being a Dell and not a home-built system, I have very few BIOS options. I'm wondering if anybody knows of a utility that I could use to manually set my memory timings.

Thanks for any help.

i dont know of any windows apps that can do wht you are asking ...

are you sure there arent any option in the bios for that?

another thing you could do is see if the motherboard they used is availble outside of dell (like they just used any mobo but just flashed it with a stripped bios) if that is the case then you could flash a "real" bios onto it (but make sure it is the exact same board) and have those options available

lol you just started replacing the ram... youre gonna end up replacing the whole pc one day...:)put the old ram back and use your XMS for your next build- it -yourself project...:)

Sisoft Sandra lets you know what yur mem timings are

Dell doesn't take any measures to make it harder to flash the bios on their boards do they ??
i've seen options in some bios that let you make it where you can't flash the bios. I suppose it would be possible to prevent bios from being flashed if that option was enabled by default and access to it denied
anyone seen this yet by any pc manufacturer ?

heh good thing i never owned a dell
