Memory Timings from Windows

Hi there

I've got a gigabyte 865G mobo which doesn't allow me to ajust memory timings in the BIOS. (i've got the lastest bios)

Are there windows based programs that would allow me to change the memory timings (from windows abviously) or at least view the timings?

Also would the motherboard automatically increase the timings if i increased the memory frequency above what is specified? or does it just keep them the same?

CPU-Z will let you look at the basic RAM timings. and most mobos without options will put in a divider if you use RAM rated at below the FSB. none will change timings when you overclock.

With gigabyte's newer bios's, to access memory timings you have to hit Control+F1. I think thats the right combination, but I know there is some combo you have to press to access them.

There are certain types of RAM that will automatically configure the timings for you, such as Corsair RAM with Plug N Frag technology.

Thanks for all of the feedback!

I've since downloaded cpu-z, so at least i can check out the timings.

I'm gonna try the ctrl f1 thing after i've finished typing this.

I was originally planning on buying Kingston hyperX, but that didn't fit the budget, so now i'm opting for the KingMax Hardcore ddr500. according to the tests here they perform well, and considering i can get them much cheaper than the hyperX i think it's a good buy. any comments on this?
