I just bought a MSI K8T Neo 2 FIR with a 3000+ AMD64. Everything SEEMS to be ok but it won't post. I check the D-Bracket and LED 1 is on indicating a Boot Attempt "This will set low stack and boot via INT 19h" whatever that means!

Help is much needed!

Full system specs would be helpful..do the fans come on when your turn it on? Have you tried with the minimums(cpu w/heatsink and fan, video card, and 1 stick of ram only).?

MSI K8T Neo2 FIR
Anthlon64 3000+
Samsung 512MB PC3200 (256x2)
GeForce 2 gti
WD 80GB P-ATA
Maxtor 200gig P-ATA
LiteOn DVD-ROM
NEC 3520 16x DVD+-R/RW DL
Ati TV Wonder
Sony floppy drive

It seemed the problem is running in dual channel. Each stick works great on it's own.

I've tried both DIMM 1 + 3 and 2 + 4

I dont know if you read pg 24 of your manual
Slot 2 and 4 ONLY for (2 stick) dual channel (green and purple)
1 and 3 attempt may damage board/RAM
Both must be either Dual or single sided
Also note weblink for recommended mem module info and DRAM density needs
You might try upping vdimm a little

hmm.. I've got it on dimms 2 and 4. still no go.

*edit*

I've checked MSI site to verify if my ram is compatible in dual channel it's not listed. Could this be the problem ?

seems dual channel on a64 is more trouble than its worth, i had a friend with the Gigabyte NF3 board (939) and it wouldnt boot in dual channel with his corsair sticks....i felt so smug with my skt754 system, jus popped the ram in dimms 1 and 2 and i was away, and not even noticabley slower

So the RAM works in single channel? I don't know if this applies, but do you have to turn dual channel on in the BIOS? Secondly, what's up with the GeForce 2? You must not play games.

It works with one stick of RAM. Even with 2 in one channel won't POST. I've Tried Samsung and now some Kingston RAM, same thing. I check MSI's site and they "approve" Kingston ram but it's the model with CL 2.5. I've set it in the bios to 2.5 still won't post with two sticks. Again, neither in single or dual channel mode.

just ignore my ignorance. the problem was just booting with 2 mem sticks (256) in dual channel with the wrong timings. I've disabled the Bank Interlancing and got them running in single channel.

So new question: can anyone help me with these timings ?

Currently i've got :
Kingston 256MB x 2
CAS Latency 3
RAS to CAS 6
RAS Precharge 6
Tras 12
Trc 11
DRAM idle timer 16
CPU : 9x230

I don't know much about timings so any help is much appreciated!
