I am currently using Norton System Works 2000 Ver3.01 and just upgraded memory from 128 to 512 and when I run the memory test in the diagnostics it says it failed.

I built the system myself using an ASUS p3v4x MB, bios ver. 1006beta (1000 cpu support) and swapped the 128mb (2-64mb of pc 100) ram I was using for (2) 256mb chips. I was able to run the test with the (2) 64mb dimms and it passed. At one time I was running 2 128mb and it would fail the test as well, when I dropped back to 128 it would pass. My bios sees it as 512, WIN98 sees it as 512, and the machine runs great. the only issue is why does the RAM fail the Norton test? Is it the test, the RAM, or something else? I am 99.999999999999 % sure all the hardware is working fine and the memeory is fine. My guess is that the Norton test is wrong. Anyone know how reliable the Norton Diagnosics test is with my system config?

Here are the spec:

Asus p3v4x (bios 1006beta)
512mb pny RAM (2-256)
Asus v7700 geforce2 gts
20 gig Western Digital 7200 HD
and the other usual stuff cd-rom, cdrw drive......... and so on

any ideas as to why it fails that test would be welcome

Thanks in advance
