Memory stress test?

BD2003

Lifer
I've got memory which previously wasnt working and now it is. I want to make sure its totally alright. I also want to find out how hard I can stably push it.

Is there a freeware or shareware memory stress test that I can use? I need to be able to use it from windows, I dont have a floppy drive. Something that can continually push the memory for at least 15 minutes straight.

I thought Memtest was to found out if you had bad RAM....????

Prime95 is a stress tester. Just do a goole search for Prime95.

Prime doesn't test memory (at least not all of it) it's usually suggested as a CPU stresser.

MemTest86 can run RAM tests in loops stressing your RAM.

memtest will catch ram errors(either when ram is overclocked or you just want to troubleshoot and see if ram is causing problems), whereas prime95 i believe only catches cpu mathematical errors?

//memtest86 is also a good one, but since he cant boot off a floppy i dont think it will be of much use

MemTest86 has a CD image you can download to make a bootable CD that loads the tester. It's the same as the floppy disk image version as far as I know.

yah i just went to their site, to check if its still bootable off a floppy disk, and i just saw they infact do have a cdimage

thx for letting me know nonetheless 🙂

I use a program called Burn In Test Pro. The file can be found here. Free to try for 30 days and it will let you load up any part on the board.

Uh? How much RAM do you have in YOUR system? 64MB or something lame? War3 is hardly memory intensive.

Wouldn't a Windows based memory tester give incomplete results? How would it be able to test the memory sections that Windows is using? Would it just move anything in the RAM to a different location, then test the original locations?

Hence all the suggestions for memtest86. Althought it may be possible to relocate certain used blocks, talk about a waste of time.
