Memory stress test? Ram stress test?

Stress Testing CPUs is very nice and beautiful. But what about RAM? I am aware that Prime95 tests both but a friend of mine needs to isolate the source of his problem (computer reboots when using photoshop, tmpgenc, antivirus, etc) and a program specifically designed to stress test the memory would be extremely helpful. DocMem is not an option.

If it runs on windows, even better.

I'm counting on you

Thanks for your time

When overclocking the FSB, is it acceptable to up the FSB until memtest86 fails after one pass, then back it off a bit?

If you get any errors you might have to back off the timings and/or the memory frequency and/or the FSB.

If memtest runs let's say 12 to 24 hours without any error, thebn u start to get on the safe side I guess ....

I'm having more luck with my OC'ing by running Memtest86 first, after passing it I boot into windows and run Prime95 (both are free proggies). After passing Prime95 for about 24 hrs. I go ahead and bump my FSB some more and repeat.

At this point I'm running memtest for only an hour before going into Prime95. I figure when I fail prime95 I'll have to let memtest run longer. I'm just too impatient to run both for so long. LOL

Same here, if I change my RAM timings or up my FSB, I always use Memtest86+ first. After about an 30-60 minutes I run Prime95 overnight.

BTW, there is Memtest86 and Memtest86+. Memtest86+ is the updated version of Memtest86 with better support for newer CPUs and chipsets. Memtest86 itself is no longer being updated by the original author, hence that's where Memtest86+ comes in.
