Memory stick Reader can't work with other USB devices?

My memory stick reader MSAC-US1 was humming along really well for transferring my s70 pics UNTIL I hitched up another USB device, then while it still showed up in Explorer, I got " error😀evice not accessible" from then on. I tried reinstallng the reader and drivers about a hundred times, but same result.

I looked in the instruction book and to my incredulousness, Sony says it wont' work if other USB devices are installed or on a hub. HUH??? isn't that what the benefit of USB devices are for --- "connect up to 127 devices!!!" I unplugged the other USB device and it STILL wouldn't read the MSAC-US1, even though I again tried to reinstall the drivers.

So I called Sony tech support hoping for a firmware update, but NOPE -- even spoke with a high-level sounding technical type and he said they wont' work with other USB devices, except keyboards and mice. I asked him if this would be rectified and he replied very sarcastically, "by Sony? I don't think so"

In fact, now I can't even get my camera to work through the USB connection -- fortunately I have a home network so I have switched the MSAC-US1 over to my daughter's PC and I can access it from there just fine. This will be fine til she wants to hitch up another USB device...
