Memory + SSD Upgrades for ASUS P7P55D-E

I'm looking to upgrade my old 4GB OCZ ram to a 8GB kit. Also looking for a good SSD for <$150.

My main concern is compatibility since my board is a little bit older now. I live in the US and can check out my local Fry's, but I want to make sure whatever I buy works right out of the box if possible.

Can anyone make any recommendations for ram and SSD for my board?

According to specs you can use DDR3, I would use any 1.5V and at least 1600mhz kit.

For SSD, for around $150 you can grab at least 128GB. And for just under $200 you can grab a 240GB. I would look for Samsung 830's, Samsung 840, Samsung 840 PRO. Speed wise it goes Samsung 840PRO>830>840. I would actually not recommend the 840 just because of their speed, but goo reliability. Also look at Kingston HyperX 3K. Crucial M4. OCZ Vertex 4.

840 goes on sale every now and then, have seen a few of them this year, 240GB for $150. If you are not in hurry might wait for a few weeks... Otherwise you can go for 128 GB M4 or 840 PRO, they are the next best thing for under $150. Your's is a SATA III board so you can technically get full advantage of all the latest SSDs including 840 PRO

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. I will definitely keep an eye out for the Samsung 840 Pro, good to know my board can support all the new SSDs.

Looks like I am 2 days too late for the Samsung 240 250gb on Newegg, but I'll keep an eye out as I want a 240 Pro anyway.
