Memory speed

Hey all,

I just built up a system, first one in a couple of years, and had a question about the memory speed. I got a i7 930 on a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R rev.2 board and put a Crucial 6GB DDR3 kit on it for RAM. The memory, CT3KIT25664BA1339, said it is rated as 1333 memory or PC3-10600 but when I boot the system it says the ram is set to 1066. I used both the fail safe and optimized setting in the bios and they appear to show the RAM at 1333 but it is still listed on boot as 1066. Can someone please tell me what I am over looking.

Thanks

It boots at 1066 because that is the default setting for that CPU. You'll need to manually set a higher memory multiplier in the BIOS to run it at 1333. Or, you can just leave it as is if it is stable.
