probably will just run slower test it with memtest and see how many errors you get.

although come to think of it when I tried to run 3 sticks of 3200 on my pc at 200 mhz ddr although offically the board does not support it ( it supports 2 dimms at 200) it did run it.

but had so many errors I backed it off to 166 333ddr.

had forgotten to change my dram settings from spd back to auto in bios.

You have 2100 ram slots!? That must be a huge motherboard!

Seriously though, listen to what daniel had to say. It also is gonna depend on what motherboard you have, what memory you are using...there are a lot of variables.

You should be absolutely fine.

General rule of thumb is: you can use higher-specced RAM in a lower-specced machine, but not the other way around.

There are variations to this, such as overclocking, but follow the above and you'll be fine.
I'm running PC3200 in a 166Mhz (PC2700) motherboard and it's fine.
