What's better...PC3200 memory with a cas latency of 2-2-2-5 or PC3500 and up with not so good latencies. I don't really know how low the latency for PC3500+ ram goes so let's say price for the PC3200 and PC3500+ are the same so we won't be comparing PC3500+ at 2-2-2-5 or something like that.

If it helps, primary function is gaming and secondary is movie editing (Adobe Premiere) and it's an AMD rig.

Thanks in advance for the help.

PC3500 and up is better for overclocking than CL2 PC3200 (which is a big waste of money anyway, especially on an Athlon 64, if that's what you're using). But if you're not overclocking, just get some value PC3200 (anything above is overclocking memory; speeds above PC3200 are not officially supported by the JEDEC consortium).

Wether you get CAS 3 or CAS 2 it does not really matter now adays. And since you are gaming I suggest saving a bit of money and get a better video card or something like that rather then faster ram. If you are overclockign some quality PC3500 would be best though.

So to answer your question RAM timings have very little impact on performance. Especially game performance on a A64 rig
