Hi. I've asked memory questions before but this one is a bit different.

Does the extra $11-$15 per Memory stick justify "double the speed" from 1333mhz to 2666mhz? Would I even notice it with programs and every day computing? Or is it just for benchmarks at this point?

From what I saw a stick of 8GB 1333mhz was around $62 dollars. A stick of 2666mhz was around $73 dollars.

I've been told that if I have 32GB of 1333mhz, it's better than having 16GB at 2666mhz because even "slow" memory is better than having no memory at all.

Just would like to know your thoughts. By the way, I used 1333mhz because its the most popular choice and common. That and 1600mhz. And I used 2666mhz because after that point for 2800mhz and 3000mhz memory, it just gets ridiculous priced. In my view, 2666mhz is the tops before it gets too crazy.

So is it worth the extra $45 - $65 dollars for 4 2666mhz sticks of memory or no?

Thank you. : ]

I guess it would depend on whether you're doing something now, or will be likely to do something during the lifespan of the machine, that would be directly impacted by memory bandwidth and/or latency.

Chances are, though, you're not now and won't be in the near future.

I don't think it makes a difference. Not one you will notice in everyday computing. Just my opinion though.
