With memory being so cheap i was thinking about upgrading from 256mb to 512mb but i have been told that 512mb for windows98se is to much is that ture

who knows, no one has an clear answer and if they do, someone has a counter answer... it's so cheap you can build another system and take it apart..
 
512 is okay, but more than that and you will start to run into problems.
I'll update this with a link in just a little bit.
