Memory slots question

Just wondering if I'll be fine with empty DDR2 slots on my motherboard. The one I'm looking at has 4 slots, but right now I'm only wanting to throw in two 512 mb sticks. Am I gonna be okay with the two extra slots being empty?

Thanks for any help, and I understand if you feel the need to call me a big dummy in the process.
