I am new to this forum and a newbie overall. I have read some threads and thought you might help me out.
I recently cracked my box open to add memory. Went to crucial and bought stick. I have an old Athlon Compaq 7QSm11. I followed the instruction and then powered. i smelled smoke and whoosh nothing. After looking at the first slot, a section of it burned out and when I try to use the second slot with the original 128 meg stick, the computer won't boot up at all.
Is there anything I can do to get this baby up and running again. Or does the second slot depend on the first slot. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the gurus.
