Hi Everyone,
Can someone please help me with memory configuration? When I have my Dram freq set to 1333 or 1600mhz & run 2 sticks of ram, I got errors within the first 10%, but if I test each stick separately it doesn't give any errors.
Next I decided to switch the 2 sticks around & no errors.
Next I put in all 4 sticks & set the Dram freq to 1333 or 1600 & immediately got a bunch of errors, so I tested the other 2 sticks separately in each of the slots & no errors.
So I tried the following, I put all 4 sticks back in & lowered the Dram Freq to 800 Mhz & after after 10 hrs, there was no errors. When I set it back to 1600mhz, it gave a checksum error & tried to find the bios file on the cd.
When I set it for 1333, & tried running Memtest, it came back with errors pretty quick. At this moment, I am running it with Dram Freq set for 1333mhz & so far no errors (it's at 33% on the first run)
So my question, is it normal to have to run 16 GB of ram at 800mhz? If in order to use 16 GB with no errors requires to be ran at 800mhz, what timings should i use, so the lower memory speed will be minimal?
Overall I'm thinking the board is probably bad, especially if it doesn't have an issue with single sticks of ram, but has issues when 2 or more are used, especially at around the speed they are rated for.
Your thoughts?
Thanks
System:
AMD 1090-T
Asus M5A88-V Evo
4 - 4 GB Kingston Hyper X 1600mhz DDR3 1.65v 9-9-9-27 timings
ATI 6850 Raedon Black Video
Thanks
