Memory running at lower speed after GPU install

Hi,

I have 16 gigs of 1600Mhz DDR3 in my system. I have a GTX 670 graphic card. I installed a second GTX 670 card in my system and now my computer will give me the blue screen of death if I run my memory anything higher then 1333MHZ. Is it possible that these two items are related? Here are my other specs:

OCZ 700 Watt PSU
Intel I7 Sandbridge 2600K running at 4 Ghz
4 x 4 GB 1600 Mhz Corsair RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
256 SSD
2 x 2 TB traditional drives running in RAID 1
Standard DVD Drive

Make sure PCIE in BIOS put it manually to 100 .. if that doesn't help, test it out on another machine,,,,

Did you install nvidia latest WHQL ? bsod is no good....
 
Thanks for the suggestion. If the pcie change doesn't work will there be a big performance difference running the ram at 1333 instead of 1600?
 
Hi, I 'm running my 2600k at 4.2ghz. It ran fine before installing the second gpu. I lower the cpu back down to stock speed but that didn't help.

Well actually with 1333 you can have tighter timings. so your latency will be lower then a 1600

You really dont need that bandwidth so try 1333 and take down the RAM timings and put proper voltage and lets see what we can do.

Thanks for the response. I will try that. I didn't buy high end memory so I'm not sure how much play I have with it. I also have to read up with all these numbers mean 🙂

I voluntarily run my 1600 ram at 1333, because it uses a lower voltage so runs cooler and I can get a higher overclock on the CPU-NB.

Every single review I looked at showed almost no difference unless you ran some kind of special application. But I haven't revisited this subject in a while, are there any games that increase their FPS or other metric when you increase the RAM speed?

Faster RAM is more important for APUs that are handling video duties. For CPUs and gaming with discrete video cards, 1333 is fine:
