Memory questions with 8IRXP and 512mb stick of ram?

1. I have had two different boards, and both lock up on a cold boot during the mem count. Just wondering if 512mb was an issue on this board.

2. What brand of 512mb memory are you using. I am using ocz. Is that bad?
