Allright...not EXACTLY light fare, but OT gets a lot of eyes, but here goes:

I have an HP 8580C PIII 500Mhz, about 3 years old. I'm looking at some 512Mb RAM. Will my computer even recognize that size of a chip???

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

It depends on the motherboard. if you have the computer manual, just look in it and it should tell you the total number of ram you can put in there. Or you can just find out what type of motherboard you have and do look online to see wha't the max that you can put in there.

I think BX chipsets can only recognize 128MB modules at max - but I may be mistaken a 256MB module may be recognized. Try updating your BIOS before you do anything.
