Hi
Posted this somewhere else - would be really grateful for advice....
I have an ASUS A8N-SLi Premium.
I also have 1 Corsair (TWINX1024-3200C2PT) 1024MB (2 x 512MB Matched Pair), DDR400 / PC3200 memory.
I am running it with an AMD (San Diego) Athlon 64bit 4000+
People keep saying that the timings for AMD should be set to 2.5-3-3-6, or 2-3-3-6. But the BIOS has (in auto mode):
Memoclock: 400 MHz
CAS# latency (Tcl): 3
Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8T
RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 3T
Row precharge time (Trp): 3T
Row cycle time (Trc): 12T
Row refresh cycle time (Trfc): 14T
Read-to-write time (Trwt): 5T
Write recovery time (Twr): 3T
1T/2T memory timing: 2T
I think this means I should be able to change CAS# latency from 3 to 2, and Tras from 8T to 6T, and get better performance without losing stability. My system is working fine at present, but its really frustrating thinking that I could be losing out on some performance - after all that's why I upgraded to this setup.
I am running BIOS 1009 which is the latest for this board.
Also, if anyone knows how to find out what chipset driver I am using that would be great - I need to find out if I am using NVidia NForce 4 6.65 etc.
Many thanks...
Steve
