First off, don't laugh! :) I want to know if Stick 1 (see below) is significatly holding my system back. if so, by how much (best guess)? I would not mind throwing a couple of bucks at this system to give it a little boost. Any other suggestions?

I have been holding off upgrading because this system does everything I want it to. BF2 is the only game I play and this system runs it surpising well. Burning CD's, internet, word, etc all run currently fine.

My current system:

Athlon 2000 xp
1 gig (512 x 2)
9800pro
ECS k7s5a mobo

Using CPUZ i noticed that my two 512megs sticks have different timings.

Stick 1
----------
freq 100mhz
cas lat 2.0
ras# 2
ras precharge 2
tras 5

Stick 2
----------
freq 133mhz
cas 2.5
ras 3
ras precharge 3
tras 6

With regards to how you use this machine, save your money. Matching your memory will net you zero noticeable improvement. Put the money away for a new system when this one no longer meets your needs.

really, I thought memory runs and the lowest common denomator, my case 100mhz. If I matched it to 133mhz, would that be a 33% increase in memory speed? If so, how would that translate into overall system speed?

It would be a 33% increase in speed, yes. However that won't translate to 33% more performance from your PC.

Your system is borderline uselessly obsolete now. Save up for a new one
