right now I have an ASUS A7V266-e that has has 1800+ athlon XP on it with 512MB of PC2700 (generic) memory. I just ordered my new motherboard, gigabyte's GA-7N400-Pro, (nforce2). I also ordered a athlon XP 2700 (333). right now im low on cash. would it be faster to just put my 512mb of PC2700(and run dual with it) on that board? Or should i buy 256mb of PC3200 (probably GeIL Golden Dragon Value)? once i get the money i'll have two 256mb chips running on the dual. but for the time being what ould make my system faster?

thanks.

stupid question...can i just throw all 3 chips on it and somehow turn down the setting of the pc3200 to run at 2700?

I have the same board and using Generic 2X256 PC2700. I max'ed out at 176Mhz. I suggest you use your existing 512 MB PC2700 and save to buy a Gig of PC3200 or PC 3500. If you cannot wait, just buy another 512mb PC 2700. You do not have to ran in dual, the difference is not that much. In fact, there are times when the SDR is better than DDR.
