Memory question - is this normal? What is Page file size and virtual memory

Dell Inspiron 8000, PIII 700, Win XP Pro, 10 GB HD (2.3 GB free), 320MB RAM

System got very laggy all of the sudden. Are the stats below relatively normal? I don't know much about Page file size or virtual memory

Available Memory: 36.55 %
Page File Size: 1728.4Mb
Available Page File: 35.22 %
Virtual Memory: 2047.8Mb
Available Virtual Memory: 98.03 %
Memory Slot 1 [DIMM_A]: 256Mb
Memory Slot 2 [DIMM_B]: 64Mb

Edit: Note that when I check the allotted virtual memory, it says 480 MB.

Try setting no pagefile and reboot then reset the pagefile.

Okay, I tried resetting the page file, that didn't help.

One other note is that when I check the task manager, just by scrolling up and down on a web page the CPU usage goes to 100%. And just by moving my mouse around really fast I can get it to hover around 50-75%. Is that normal? The fans are running all the time also.

If that's true, I would say memory usage is the least of your worries.
