Hello everyone. Fianlly decided to replace my tired, but faithful, AMD XP2000 rig. So, gonna' go with an AMD64 3200 CPU and Asus K8V Deluxe motherboard combo. In doing my research, I understand that I need Registered memory sticks in order to insure proper operation. However, is 3200 the "official" memory speed that is supported, or can I get away with using faster memory speeds such as 3500 or even 4000? Or, perhaps the question should be if it is even worth it to use faster memory?

Thanks for any thought or opinions. :D

You only need registered memory if you're using an Athlon 64 FX, which it looks like you aren't. Plain old DDR memory should work fine with a vanilla Athlon 64 (754 pin).

yup what monkeydrive said
you need unbuffered, non-parity ram

the registered stuff is for socket940 boards (opteron and athlonFX)

but yours is a socket 754 so registered isnt supported
