Hi guys, (plz help out a hardware noob)

I have a Dell 9100 with 512mb Ram (2x256) and I have a 256MB PCI Express? x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) nVidia GeForce 6800 that will be used for mild gaming.

I was wondering if adding 1 more Gig of Ram would be the way to go (2x512)?

(I intend on either upgrading the vid card or building a real 64bit/SLI gaming rig in a few months also, so I'm not against buying more Ram that can be re-used in my next rig.)

Thanks for the input.
And, plz point me to some good memory brands/deals. i'm lost... lol

Yeah, 1.5GB of RAM would be pretty good right now. 2GB isn't needed yet, and 1GB is getting to not be enough.

I'm not certain, but I think it might hurt latency/performance a bit, as if you have 3 sticks of memory, then I don't think dual channel mode will work. Maybe you will for two of the sticks.

You can't go wrong with more rams. Always make sure you buy the fastest you can afford.
