Memory questeion, how to setup dual channel

Hi, about to to get new memory.

i want to build a dual channel setup and i am on tight budget

i have GeIL and kingston in my mind, which model do u suggest?
buying 1 stick or 2 stick better? i saw some model that is 2x256, does it mean it is dual channel support?

or first of all, they don't perform well if overclock?
which brand do u suggest other than those?

it is going to work with a 2.8c p4

still wondering if i need a pc3200 or pc3500, cl2.5 or cl2

thanks

You need at least 2 sticks of ram to run dual channel. PC3200 CL 2.5 should be fine CL2 would be better. If your going to try overclocking the 2.8C go with the PC3500.
The 2x256 or 2x whatever is supposed to be matched up better than getting them seperate.

if i get 2 sticks for dual channel now, and in the future i want to upgrade, how many sticks do i need?
let say i get 2 sticks of 256 total of 512mb

if i get 1 stick of 256mb will i loose the dual channel advantage?

and if i get a different brand, does it matter?

You'd need to get 2 same size, same speed modules for the other 2 slots. Both having same number of chips and module sides (single or double)

Yes

A bit, best to get the matched pairs sold as "dual channel 2x***MB".
2 modules the same + 2 modules the same etc. (depending on mobo chipset). The second pair can be different from the first pair.

OCZ, Mushkin, Corsair (TwinX not value select), etc.

Geil and Kingston are good as well. I have Kingston HyperX PC3200 "dual channel kit"
