I recently purchased 3 new 512mb sticks of PC2100 DDR to use in my ASUS A7V8X-X.

I installed each of the modules (one at a time) on the bare MB with only the proc. (Ath 2200+ & fan), video, KB, and ASYS 600W PSU (3.3v@28A, +12v@20A).

As you have already guessed, it won't post. The modules are from TA #512UDTZM3 and marked 64m x 64 - 512mb DDR DIMM. Lifetime Warranty. I have not heard of the company -TA- Anyone here know about them?

Anyway, the board works with another brand of memory so what's wrong?

I've also tried the sticks on an ASROCK K7S8X -- same configuration -- same result.

I'm guessing it has to be the 64m x 64 bit array?

Any help will be most appreciated.

RMA! RMA! RMA!

What are you buying PC2100 RAM for anyway? I think PC2100 had more problems with compatibility than PC2700. Plus, it is slower. Or, buy a better Mobo.

The ASUS is older and a backup The price for the memory was good (too good?) but I don't think there is anything wrong with it, so can't return it. I was hoping someone whould have spme info on the brand and model -- like whether it is special purpose or made for a proprietary system of some kind.
