I bought a PNY Optima 256MB PC2700 stick today. I already have a stick of 256MB PC2700 in there. I have an Abit NF7-S motherboard. Once I put in the new stick Windows XP Pro wouldn't boot up. The BIOS finds the new memory stick and enables dual channel and everything, but Windows doesn't boot. I put JUST the new stick in and it ran fine, so it's compatible. I also tried to put the two sticks in DIMM 1 and 2, so that dual channel will be disabled. I have a AMD Barton 2500+ processor. What should I do?? What multiplier should I have or memory timings should i have. I don't care about performance I just want to run Windows on 512MB RAM!

since the sticks are from a different manufacturer, they probably have different timings. Try setting the timings manualy in your BIOS, to the settings the slower stick uses. IE 3-3-3-8
