Memory problems...

I'm trying to help a friend find memory for his old Compaq 5000US. Problem is that we have bought two low-density PC133 sticks from NewEgg and they haven't worked.

So I went to Crucial and they suggested some of their PC100, CAS 2 memory. Would this have a likely chance of working?

Last time I bought memory at Crucial, they guaranteed it would work, assuming you
told them the mobo.

I told them the computer model, that's all they had.
