Would a main memory problem have these symptoms? When my system boots my computer does not find my hdd. Also when I get my system to actually boot it gets a blue screen that says a serious problem occured and windows restarts and then my system does not see my hdd. Now my hdd is only a year old. It is a wd raptor. Through some troubleshooting, I removed a stick of memory and now for the past hour my system has been rock solid. I restarted it 5 times and it boots every single time without incident. Windows has been running for an hour without restarting. Can a bad stick of memory have those symptoms? And can memory go bad for no apparent reason???

run Memtest95 to find out.

The only other thing that jumps out at me is power supply issues.

Hi, Get your ear down next to the HD on Boot. If you don't hear it spin up when the problem occurs then the HD has problems starting. Spindle motor has very little starting torque, so any problems with bearings etc. and it won't make it every time you boot. Eventually it wont start at all.

Good Luck, Jim
