Just completed the build of my new PC...
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP2400+
512Mb PC2700 Ram (2 * 256 modules)
Radeon 9000Pro
Problem is that I can't seem to get both of the memory modules to run at 333Mhz. The motherboard automatically selects a memory frequency of 166Mhz, which will correctly result in the memory running at 333Mhz. The machine won't boot up Window XP though, I keep getting a blue screen, or an error that NTLDR is missing. However when I manually change the frequency to 133Mhz to sync it with the FSB everything is OK. If I take one of the modules out, the remaining module will succesfully boot at 166Mhz, but if I swap them out the other one will only boot at 133Mhz. If I set the memory frequency to 166Mhz Xp loads to the logon screen and then spontaneously reboots every time. Is this module faulty?? The module that appears to be working OK is single sided, where as the other is double sided. Both are genric, I don't know if it is important that they match. I have put the memory in slots 1 and 3 to make use of the dual channel memory.
Should I be able to set the memory frequency to 166Mhz or is 133 correct?? I also ran a test using SiSoft Sandra and the resulting scores seemed a bit low - 2054.
