Memory prices

I keep hearing people say that memory prices are rising recently. Is this true, is this a yearly thing? I have heard in the past that the OEM's hoard memory to build back to school and xmas systems, causing a dip in supply, which makes ram prices rise. I don't know if that's a rubbish theory though.

I'm planning on building a system in the next 3-4 weeks. Should I order my memory now?

It's not worth playing the memory game. Order it when you need it. Or shop in the For Sale/Trade forum.
You can get some great deals there.

No. Its true that RAM is now pretty expensive:|::roll: so it´d be better to wait and see if prices will go down.

But, in the next 3-4 weeks, is the price as likely to go up as it is to go down?

Also, I'm looking at some G.Skill 2Gig HZ 800MHz sticks for ~$240. What would you guys consider a "normal" price, if the prices weren't considered to be high right now.

There's no way to knwo what will happen in the next 3-4 weeks, there's no one factor that's causing the price hikes.

right around thanksgiving is my prediction as to when the prices will go back down. Unfortunatly that's 2 months. The patriot ddr2-667 2gb kit is about as good a deal as you can get right now. Plus, it has 1.8v so it'll be almost garenteed to work on most if not all of the most recent MoBos plagued by the memory problems. I was eying a kit of 2gb OCZ gold ddr2-667 and it went form $140 AR to $190 AR.😕 The reason is probably because of demand and they want to sqeeze every last penny out of you... the damn extortionists.:|

Sir,
You haven't seen "expensive"! :shocked::laugh::shocked:

Fvck that. I can post some pics of 2GB DDR2 kits for ~$150 or even less from not too long ago.

Memory price have gone through the FRAKIN" ROOF!!

As someone who sells custom systems, this is driving me INSANE! :|

I swear, one week ago, I was paying $169 for some OCZ DDR2-667. The same stuff is over $245 now.
