Memory Price Forecast: Good time to stock up on DDR?

So I just recieved my Kingston HyperX PC3500 512MB module from last week's Best Buy deal. For what its worth, I saved a few bucks as opposed to buying online. Now, running any dual channel system you need two sticks of ram to take advantage of the performance boost. I thought to myself, "Maybe I'm better off buying a 512MB stick now, and then buying another later when prices go down a bit." Afterall, I can live with 512MB for a while. But I'm not quite sure how memory prices are fluxuating now. Seems like they're a bit high in the PC3200-3500 range but stable. What do you guys think? Do you think RAM prices are about to skyrocket? Some people said that prices will be a bit on the rise, but I don't know how accurate they really are. Should I stock up with another HyperX dimm for $100? Or maybe they'll be way cheaper in a few months? Input is highly appreciated! Thanks

from checking out some prices at online retailers, it looks to me like it may be upon us finally: mem prices seem to be rising. so if it were me, (and I had the money), I'd stock up right now

The US just put a tariff on Hynix RAM(44%), so now is a really good time to grab RAM before the market has a ripple effect.

Yeah, maybe I'll cough up another 512 while I have the money. I just figured it'd get cheaper, but who knows. Thanks for the heads up!

Also, as far as dual channeling goes, I prefer buying my RAM at the same place at the same time, to maximise my chances of getting sticks from the same batch. I am pretty sure that it has little effect on overall performance, but I still feel better having my sticks close. I also agree, the prices are pretty good now. If I needed more RAM I'd grab some, but I am already at 1GB and 768MB in my two rigs, and my girlfriend is maxed out at 512MB. I have no place to use it so I'll wait. 😉

After much deliberation on the subject, I've decided to buy another stick. Hopefully 1gig of ram will last me for many moons to come. Thanks for the opinions!
