My new rig's coming in soon, tell me what you think :)

1. AMD Athlon 64 3000 (Winchester Core) - Socket 939 CPU
2. MSI K8T Neo2-F Via K8T800 Pro Chipset Motherboard Socket 939
3. 512 PC3200 Memory Kingmax 2.5 latency
4. 160 Gig 7200 rpm IDE Hard Drive
5. MSI Nvidia GeForce 6600GT - 128MB AGP Video Card
6. 2.4x DVD+R DL (Double Layer), 16x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x VD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 48x 7. CD-R, 32x CD-RW
8. 16x DVD Rom Drive
9. 1.44 Floppy Drive
10. Raidmax Scorpio Case w/480W PS

The question is I want to get 1GB of ram, but what should I go for? I could sell the 512mb Kingmax and get some faster memory, or just upgrade 512mb more of the same type for cheap. Some memory I've been looking at:

Not sure about my power supply...I think it's generic :S Would it be good enough to overclock with, if I got one of the more expensive memory packs I listed?

another stick of 512 kingmax should do the job. you should get a new psu asap. xclio 450 should work just fine.

I wouldn't trust a no name cheap power supply. That is a lot of money worth of hardware that could be ruined.

I would also sell the 512 Mb of ram you have and get some Patriot or OCZ memory.

Change the memory to 2x512mb Corsair VS PC3200 for $81 on Newegg.com. Sale ends in about 5 hours!

And definitely get a leading brand PSU... usually ones that come with cases crap out and smell bad... unless it's Antec, I've never had trouble with them.

@Usandthem, would the OCZ Value VX memory be able to overclock decently on my MB you think, or does my MB suck too much for it? :p

@wafflesandsyrup, is it just me or do the amps seem pretty low on that PS though?

You might get somewhat of an overclock out of that ram. Most value ram overclocks a little, but it is not the norm to get a great overclock out of most of it.

You really won't gain too much from overclocking your ram. Your CPU however.......;)

Your system will feel fast enough.

Because you are buying a case with power supply and the power supply seems to be questionable it probably would be better if you boungt an Antec case. At least you get a quality ps with the case.

Just my 2cents.

Does Fortron or OCZ make cases too?

No reason to buy a case WITH a power supply if you are replacing the power supply.

Either buy a casw with a good quality power supply (Antec is certainly a choice) or:

Buy a case without a power supply and then choose a power supply

I wouldn't have individually chosen that case, but it was part of a packaged deal. I got it all for a little over $500 :D @smth, If I can't really overclock my ram that much (unless I bought TCCD, which is too expensive for me), what's the purpose in buying such a costly PS?
