Memory Placement Question.?????

Quick Question for you guys, I know this is kind of stupid, but anyway just out of curiousity:

Will there be any problem or system instability if (2) DDR memory are placed in dimm1 & dimm3 slots or dimm2 & dimm3 slots (instead of in order, dimm1 & dimm2 slots).

Assuming the Mobo has 3 Dimm slots.

I'm not sure about DDR, but I assume it's the same as with SDRAM. In systems where there are 3 slots, but only 2 sticks, I keep the sticks in 1 and 3, for "better" cooling lol. But, I have never seen a difference in speed or stability.

usually it doesnt make a difference. but i did have a gigabyte board that would only work with slots 1 and 2. the last slot was perfectly fine when there were 3 sticks of ram

The mobo in question is MSI KT3 Ultra2 - KT333.

I guess, by looking from the response, it is all depend on the mobo.

YEp since if it was a dual channel one. Then where the memory went may make a difference.
