hello again everyone,

Ive wondered this for a while i just never got around to asking... Im building a new system w/ an athlon 64 and the "supported" memory speed is DDR400 if im not mistaken... now ill be doing a moderate amount of overclocking and i was wondering can i just put in DDR433 instead of 400? i would think i could the reason i want to is so running at 400mhz would not even push the specks of me RAM to there "supported" limit (433) leaving more room to push while overclocking.

I can do this right? and if so would anyone recomend AGAINST doing this?

Im pretty sure i can id just like comfermation befor I buy my RAM

Thanks for any and all help/replys.

The only reason not to is that it costs more usually, and PC3200 usually will give at least some OC.
It's just not guaranteed by the mobo manufacturer, but you can probably find someone with your motherboard. What mobo? What RAM?

I am doing it with my Abit Socket A board, but the RAM is running stock.

I havent bought any RAM yet so im open there i do have a 512 stick of 266 tho... (Athlon PC)
Thats why i was asking so it will help in deciding whatRAM to buy. THX man

That is some expensive ram. I've heard people getting great results with Kingmax 3500/4000 which is only 80/100 a stick(512).
